Q4 2023 Music and Podcast Apps Surge in France

As 2023 came to a close, the French market for music and podcast apps exhibited significant user engagement, according to the latest Sensor Tower data. The top five apps in this category demonstrated various trends in downloads, revenue (where applicable), and weekly active users.

Deezer: Music Player, Podcast, hailing from France, showed a fluctuating revenue trend, peaking at $1.03M in early October and dipping to around $840K by the year's end. Downloads saw a notable spike in the final week of December, hitting 68.5K, while active users reached a high of 4.14M in early November before settling at 3.87M.

Spotify - Music and Podcasts from Sweden also experienced revenue highs and lows, with a peak of $164K in early December. The app's downloads surged to 127.5K during the holiday season. Weekly active users showed a steady trend, with a slight increase to 14.1M in late November.

YouTube Music, developed by Google LLC, had its revenue peak at $140K in early October and saw a year-end decline to $99.6K. Downloads for the app reached their highest at 38.1K in the last week of the year, while active users peaked at 5.63M in late November.

Amazon Music: Songs & Podcasts showed a revenue high of almost $60K in early October, with a slight increase to $50.4K as December ended. Downloads for the app also peaked in December at 40.6K. Active user counts rose to a high of 515K in the final week of the quarter.

Lastly, SoundCloud: Discover New Music from Germany saw its revenue rise to $47.2K in early December, with downloads also peaking at 23.6K during the holiday season. Weekly active users reached their highest at 1.74M in late November, ending the quarter at 1.62M.
